About the event

We invite you all to come to our part of the Valley and enjoy the Mountain Views with us.

We have drawn up a schedule of activities to include both work and a lot of play.

9:00  am – 10:00 am   Meet and greet new and old friends. Walk the Lavender  Fields or hike to the waterfall to clear your head from the drive down  or just sit with a coffee.   Continental breakfast will be waiting for  you.

10:15 am – 1:00 we will offer an intense program with Signe  Lewis, owner operator of Mt. View Green Houses who will lead us through  her Propagation program of Lavender in a controlled environment. From  how ,when, where to take cuttings from  healthy lavender stock to the  growing on of the plant material to a successful healthy plant for your  field or your selling program. Mt. View Greenhouses is a 5 min drive  from Tantivy Farm, the greenhouses are located in picturesque Rockbridge  Baths gateway to our Goshen Pass and Maury River scenic drive. This  will be an incredible breakthrough and encouragement for Mt. View   greenhouses to be able to have Lavender Plants available on the East  Coast for our Lavender Farmers.

1:15  to 2:30 pm  A  Catered  working lunch where we will discuss various aspects of Lavender Farm  life, such as agritourism, benefits of organic and/or naturally grown,  or whatever other topics you would like to suggest.

2:40 pm  -  3:45 Stephanie and Pete Louquet Head Gardeners at Buffalo Springs Farm  will lead us around the many beautiful gardens. This is a private  garden, not open to the public so we are in for a rare treat. Buffalo  Springs Farm shares a fence line with Wades Mill,  a 267 year old  working grist mill. Owners, John and Karen Siegfried, will take us on a  walk and talk tour of the grist mill. The waterwheel will be turning and  we can see the process of taking grain to flour. They also have a store  in the mill, filled with wonderful  grains and jams and syrups. And then a very short drive to finish our day with…

Until 6:00    Rockbridge Vineyards which is less then 4 miles from  Buffalo Springs farm for a glass (or two) of wine. Shep and Jane Rouse   owners and Vintners of Rockbridge Vineyards will take us on a little  tour.

From the Vineyard it is a short drive on the same road back to US 81/64 or RT 11 and the accommodations listed below. All of these places are less then 9 miles from Tantivy.

The cost for the meeting with a Continental breakfast, snacks , lunch, and materials for the workshop is $30.00 per person. Please let us know if you plan to attend so we can make the appropriate arrangements.
